DESCRIPTION

An air mass sensor measures the volume of air that is drawn in to the engine. It is measured by the deflection of the flap located in the air flow sensor. The flap is connected to the potentiometer which then sends a signal to the ECU.

Perfectly functioning air mass sensors are essential for fuel injected engines to run efficiently and reliably

The symptoms of a faulty or failing mass air flow sensor are:
Engine is very hard to start or turn over
Engine stalls shortly after starting
Engine hesitates or drags while under load or idle
Hesitation and jerking during acceleration
Engine hiccups
Excessively rich or lean idling
